Why This Role Is Different

Most architect roles are pipeline work with a better title. This one is not.

You will define architecture, code alongside custom agents, run rigorous reviews, and ship solutions in the client's own environment. The agents handle boilerplate SQL and repetitive builds. You spend your time on the decisions that actually require a senior mind: tier design, model contracts, data parity, and the architectural calls that determine whether infrastructure lasts a decade or breaks in a quarter.

What You'll Do

01

Architect the Solution

Evaluate a client's current systems, then design the architecture their business actually requires. You make the tier decisions, write the ADRs, and lead plan reviews. When the room needs an answer, you are the one who gives it and defends it.

02

Orchestrate the Agents

Dispatch role-based agents across complex builds, validate data parity, and review every PR that ships. You are not typing dbt models by hand. You are directing a system that produces them, and holding that output to a standard most teams can't reach manually.

03

Ship Class-Leading dbt

Build complex dbt implementations on medallion architecture, with full test coverage, model contracts, versioning, and state comparison. Everything deploys into the client environment, documented in GitHub, engineered to be maintained long after the engagement ends.

04

Extend the Framework

Improve the skills, hooks, and commands that encode how Mammoth delivers. The work you do here compounds: a better skill makes every future engagement faster, for you and for the whole team.

05

Lead in the Room

Present architecture to data leaders and C-suite. Anticipate problems before they surface, cut through complexity to the root issue, and move the project toward its goal. You are the final technical arbiter, not a resource waiting for direction.

What You'll Need

  • Expert-level dbt: complex modeling, macros, testing strategies, model contracts, state comparison, and performance optimization

  • Deep cloud warehouse experience: hands-on architecture and optimization across Snowflake and BigQuery

  • Advanced SQL mastery: query optimization, complex transformations, and performance troubleshooting

  • Git fluency: branching strategies, PR workflows, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Systems architecture: proven track record designing scalable, cloud-based data solutions on medallion patterns

  • Prompt engineering: you write detailed, effective prompts and understand how to direct top models inside a real development workflow

  • AI judgment: a working command of the leading models and where each one earns its place in delivery

Location

United States. We hire on craft, not zip code. We cannot provide sponsorship at this time; you must be a resident or citizen of the U.S.

If you've been waiting to combine deep dbt expertise with agentic tooling on real enterprise problems, this is the role.
